Heat

Heat means an area feels warmer than usual, often in a limb or hoof. It can be a clue for inflammation or injury, especially alongside swelling, pain or lameness, but it does not diagnose the cause.

Hoof testers

Hoof testers are a tool your vet or farrier may use to apply pressure to parts of the hoof and check for sensitivity. They can help assess whether pain may be coming from the foot.
